James's Manifesto
"My name is James Faulconbridge. I am fifteen years old and part of the Gedling District Youth Assembly. I believe that Nottinghamshire is a county full of diverse young people with both skills and talents. By being nominated I would find it a great honor to be able to represent you all as your Member of Youth Parliament. I believe that I am a person that can both listen and put your views forward on behalf of yourselves as well as bring something new and fresh to the UK Youth Parliament.
I would like to get involved with issues that affect you and other young people as well as working together as a community to solve these problems. One issue that has been drawn to my attention is young people’s role in society. The media are constantly exaggerating claims that all young people are part of yob culture. This is far from the truth. Young people have strong views which they want to be heard and if I was given the opportunity to listen to young people’s views we could all move forward and make changes together to benefit our future lives.
Working with the media, police, schools and Government would provide adequate solutions to many issues that affect young people today and I think that you will agree it would make our role as young people in society easier than it is now."
