Can I be on a District Youth Assembly?
Yes! If you are between the ages of 13 and 19 years, live and/or go to school in that particular District.
What will I have to do?
You will have to be committed to attending and taking full part in the meetings which are usually held every two months, during the evening and last between 2 to 2.5 hours.
You will be expected to take any relevant issues of concern, which you or your friends may have. to the Assembly meetings for their attention, especially if decisions are being made on your behalf and you have a right to have your say.
You will also be expected to feed back information to your friends and other young people what action is being taken.
Is it all business, or do they also have fun?
The Assembly meetings are business meetings so there is a serious aspect to them but usually they are kept as "young people friendly" as possible with plenty of breaks for refreshments.
Two or three times a year "social events" are organised which could be anything from 10 pin bowling and water sports to a trip to London!
