Workshops Lethal Weapons: How can we put an end to weapon crime? This workshop will explore the world of weapon crime, what can be used as a weapon and its consequences… Leaving Home Loaded: Homelessness is a passport to many other disadvantages - not least financial. This workshop will explore the effects of homelessness on young people's financial situation, but will also take a brief look at accessing some financial support. Golden Balls: An interactive sexual health workshop dealing with facts and myths. It will give young people an opportunity to express their opinions, gain information, dispel myths and make informed choices. Above all else, it’s going to be FUN… Identity, Culture and Belonging: A workshop using flags as a tool to encourage thought and discussion around perceptions, stereotypes, division and unity. Genocide: This workshop will help raise awareness about genocide and genocide prevention, giving Young People the opportunity to tackle real global issues, and enable them to take action. Healthy Relationships: An opportunity to explore young people’s attitudes towards relationships and sex. Young people will have the chance to look at what constitutes a healthy relationship. Bullying uncovered: Young People from the Kirkby Youth in Action (K.Y.I.A) group will lead this workshop around the issue of bullying which will cover the types of bullying and what bullying is, why people bully and what people can do to gain help and support if they are suffering from the torment of bullying. Young people will gain information and knowledge in a fun and friendly atmosphere which is run by young people for young people. Domestic Violence: 1 in 10 adults will be experiencing domestic violence and 1 in 10 children will be living with domestic violence this year in Britain. Research also informs us that 3 women in Britain are killed by a male partner each week. Domestic violence happens in same sex relationships and by women to male partners, yet is mostly inflicted by men against female partners. So what is domestic violence? Why does it happen? What support is there for young people? And, why is it an issue for young people to learn about? This workshop will answer these four questions, using real-life information. Jungle Fever: This session will explore issues surrounding stereotyping, and how diversity should be valued. Young People will be given limited information and resources, and with these, they will have to make a decision about who they will rescue and why… The problem is not everyone can be saved!!! Islamaphobia: This workshop will explore the negative perceptions and stereotyping of Muslims. This is an opportunity for young people to openly look at Islam and the everyday life of Muslims. The workshop will be delivered by young British Muslims who will share their experiences and provide answers to some of the most common misconceptions and stereotypes about Islam and Muslims. |
