County performance opportunities
<p>Nottinghamshire Children and Young People's Services offer a wide range of activities in the arts for talented young people. Admission is by audition and this takes place at the first available rehearsal. Successful applicants become County Performers, who will take part in a programme of activities designed to develop advanced techniques.</p>
<p>Becoming a Nottinghamshire County Performer:</p>
<ul><li>Do you possess ability in dance, drama or music?</li>
<li>Are you committed enough to attend all the rehearsals necessary to produce high quality performances?</li>
<li>Are you prepared to travel to the rehearsal and performance locations?</li>
<li>Are you aged between 11 and 19?</li>
<li>Do you attend a school maintained by Nottinghamshire County Council?</li></ul>
<p>All County Performers have a variety of experiences and opportunities open to them and there are a number of performance groups to choose from:</p>
<p></p>
<b>Nottinghamshire Young People's Choir</b>
<p>The choir rehearse every fortnight during term-time on Wednesdays 7.00 pm &#8211; 9.00 pm at The Queen Elizabeth School, Mansfield.</p>
<p></p>
<b>Nottinghamshire Young People's Concert Band</b>
<p>The concert band rehearse regularly during term-time on Sundays 1.00 pm &#8211; 5.00 pm at The Minster School, Southwell.</p>
<p></p>
<b>Contemporary Music Ensemble</b>
<p>This newly formed music ensemble rehearse regularly during term-time on Sundays 9.45 am &#8211; 12.30 pm at The Minster School, Southwell.</p>
<p></p>
<b>Contemporary Dance Group</b>
<p>The contemporary dance group rehearse weekly on Saturdays 1.30pm - 4.30pm at Redhill School.</p>
<p></p>
<b>Red Hot Band (Swing Band)</b>
<p>The Red Hot Band rehearse fortnightly term-time on Wednesdays 7.00 pm &#8211; 9.00 pm at The Minster School, Southwell.<br><br>There are two theatre companies:<br><br></p>
N<b>ottinghamshire Young People's Theatre Company</b>
<p><b> </b>at The Old Library</p>
<p>This theatre company rehearse weekly term-time on Sundays 10.00 am &#8211; 1.00 pm at The Old Library, Mansfield</p>

N<b>ottinghamshire Young People's Theatre Company</b>
<p> at Redhill </p>
<p>This theatre company rehearse weekly term-time on Saturdays 1.30 pm &#8211; 4.30 pm at The Redhill School, Arnold.<br><br>Gaining a place as a County Performer is a privilege. It must be treated with both respect and commitment. Places are at no direct cost to young people or their parents.<br><br>Performances take place throughout the County in dance, music, scripted and devised drama at venues like:<br></p>
<ul><li>The Royal Concert Hall</li>
<li>Southwell Minster</li>
<li>Kelham Hall </li>
<li>The Albert Hall</li>
<li>The Old Library Theatre</li>
<li>Thoresby Riding Hall.</li></ul>

<p>There are opportunities to work with professional arts organisations. These have included:<br></p>
<ul><li>Royal Shakespeare Company</li>
<li>Theatre de Complicit&#233;</li>
<li>Broadway Cinema</li>
<li>Kepow Theatre Company</li>
<li>RC - Annie Stage Fight Co-ordinators</li>
<li>The Hall&#233;.</li></ul>
