Financial Support for Courses of Further Education 2011/12
(i.e. BTEC, Diploma, NVQ level 3, A levels)

Details of a new DfE student support scheme to replace the EMA Grant can be found on the DfE website.

All financial assistance is now administered by the learning provider. This includes School 6th Forms (Local Authority Maintained and Academy), 6th Form Colleges and FE Colleges. Please contact your tutor or finance adviser where you study for information about their finance assistance policy.

If you are studying a Foundation Learning course with the County Council, you may be able to get assistance with some of the costs of attending the course. Further details are available from your tutor.

Higher education

Administration of student support for higher education students is dealt with by the national provider, Student Finance England (SFE), based in Darlington.

The County Council's student finance office closed on 24 February 2011. All enquiries about student finance for courses of higher education should be directed to SFE.
