Why is the County Council changing the concessionary fares schemes as well as ceasing the accessible bus service and stopping support for community transport car and minibus schemes?

Other transport is available from the NHS and taxi firms now run accessible taxis.  The accessible coach was very expensive to run for such a small number of users.

Why should residents have to pay to park their cars outside their own homes?

Other local authorities charge residents for parking permits. The cost (probably £50 for two years) covers the cost of processing payments, printing permits and managing the system.

Won’t reduced maintenance of traffic signals and streetlights lead to traffic chaos and dangerously dark streets?

No, there is no safety implication. We’re just reorganising the maintenance schedules.  Most of our signals are new and in very good condition thanks to recent investment.  They are remotely monitored so we know automatically if they go wrong.  When traffic signals are out of action for a while (which is rare) it is usually because there is an electricity or utilities problem rather than a mechanical one.

Road safety is very important to us; we’re not cutting anything from that area of our business.

Is this small salt for gritting the roads going to be as good as the bigger salt crystals?

Yes, it spreads better because it is lighter.
