The Standards Committee has been created to promote high standards of conduct in the County Council. The committee’s activities include
- advising on what the Code of Conduct [Word 80KB] and other codes of practice should say
- helping councillors to follow the County Council’s Code of Conduct
- dealing with claims that councillors may have breached the Code of Conduct
- checking that the County Council works in a way which follows what it says in the Constitution
- monitoring how the County Council’s complaints procedures are working.
Charles Daybell is the Chair of the Standards Committee. He is an independent member, not a councillor. There are three other independent members on the Committee, as well as seven councillors. Mr Daybell has written an annual report [PDF 140KB] to summarise what the committee has been doing.
The public are welcome to attend meetings of the Standards Committee. You can find dates of meetings and copies of committee papers in the Council diary.
Business which the committee plans to discuss is set out in its work programme [PDF 30KB].
