YouthBank

What is YouthBank?

YouthBank is a new and innovative UK-wide grantmaking initiative run by young people for young people. Local YouthBanks provide small grants to projects led by young people that are of benefit to the community and the young people taking part.

Nottinghamshire County Council Youthbank is very much a local initiative, so if you have a certain project, activity or opportunity in mind, why not check if you are eligible to apply? The grants are between £50 and £1500, though YouthBank may be willing to exceed the maximum figure in certain cases.

Eligibility to apply for a YouthBank grant

  • Young people aged between 13 and 19 years
  • The grant must help the community
  • The grant must benefit 13 to 19 year olds
  • Provision of a written quote proving how much money you need
  • Provision of a reference from an adult who will take responsibility for your use of the grant if you are under 18
  • Be prepared to attend an interview, and if under 18 be accompanied by an adult.

Please note:

Nottinghamshire County Council YouthBank grants will not be awarded for projects or activities considered unsafe.

Nottinghamshire County Council YouthBank members will have to carry out a check after the grant is awarded to ensure that the money is being used as agreed in the application.

Meeting the criteria is no guarantee that you will receive a grant. The YouthBank would like to help, but have limits to funds available. Don't let this put you off, it's a great opportunity and many projects do get accepted.
