ACLS supports many groups to access funding to deliver learning opportunities to local people.

E:learning
The Service now has a team of 10 E-Guides. Their role is to support tutors to improve the quality of teaching and learning by using Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
The Team are currently planning a series of e-learning workshops. Details will be posted here as arrangements are completed.

Tutors / Staff Development/Good Practice
ACLS offers a range of development opportunities throughout the year, including an Annual Tutor Conference, E-learning workshops and curriculum based events.
Arrangements for developing and supporting tutors are outlined in the ACLS Tutor Handbook [PDF 371KB] .

Chips with Everything at www.aclearn.net/chips is an ACL newsletter, produced quarterly by NIACE (National Institute of Adult Continuing Education - England and Wales).
Spondoolies at www.spondoolies.org.uk is a new web-based resource for the emerging subject of financial learning. It is based around a tried and tested member forum format and is free to use for all.
The document FLLN (Family Literacy, Language and Numeracy) menu from LSC 2007-2008 family programmes guidance [PDF 46KB] is for use by providers and tutors in planning provision and curriculum to give an overview of programmes which ACLS can fund. This document may also may be helpful to promote programmes to organisations and learners. For information about Wider Family Learning please contact ACLS to discuss.

ALI Inspection

Previous Tutor Conferences
ACLS held two Tutor Conferences on the 9th and 13th of September.
The events were attended by a total of 126 Tutors. Attendees found out about (click each topic for more information):
They also attended workshops on Information Learning Technology, Equality and Diversity, Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA). Tutors also took part in an interactive session, as pictured, called 'Who Wants to be a Grade 1' - click the link Who Wants to be a Grade 1 [PDF 26KB] to see the session. The event also gave tutors the opportunity to work in Curriculum Groups with their Curriculum Leader - click Curriculum Group Listing to see contact details.
Feedback from tutors was, overall, very positive. On a scale of 1 (not at all useful) – 5 (very useful) 78% of attendees on the 9th September rated the event as 4 or 5 with 70% doing the same for the 13th of September.
