Transport improvements

Transport improvements are carried out across the county to help the County Council meet the local transport plan objectives.  Each year a programme of improvement schemes is developed and some of the factors considered when prioritising schemes include:

  • Ability to deliver multiple benefits across a range of objectives
  • Ability to help meet targets
  • Value for money, in terms of out-turn/outcome, joint working to secure added value and their ability to lever in external funding
  • Phasing of schemes over the local transport plan period to ensure funding is maximised and to match the planned scheme delivery programme
  • Consultation with residents/stakeholders
  • The exposure to risk in delivering the scheme and mitigation required
  • Future maintenance implications.

Listed below are schemes that are currently being proposed or delivered.  The links will take you to pages where further information is available on each individual scheme.

Some of the larger schemes currently being implemented include improvements to Arnold town centre and West Bridgford town centre.  The County Council is also developing proposed improvements to Ollerton roundabout.

Some of the schemes that have recently been delivered include Middle Gate, Newark and Retford Bus Station.

The County Council also applies for funding from the Department for Transport for schemes costing over £5m, such as Hucknall town centre improvements and Mansfield Bus Station.
