We are committed to providing a better, safer and more flexible transport system to tackle the problems of congestion and pollution on local roads.

Our road schemes aim to improve safety and reduce accidents, as well as improve routes for users of the roads. By making these travel options safer and easier, we hope that more and more people will see them as a realistic alternative to the car, therefore reducing congestion and pollution in Nottinghamshire.

The road schemes are funded by the Local Transport Plan – the blueprint for better travel and transport in Nottinghamshire and from the Department for Transport's major scheme funding programme.

The proposed Hucknall Town Centre Improvement Scheme includes a new relief road between Annesley Road and Station Road, the two way bus only link and attractive pedestrainised area of High Street - between the Market Place and the juction of Watnall Road and general improvments to pedestrian links. A bid to secure Department for Transport funding was submitted in September 2011 and a decision is anticipated in January 2012.

Other examples of planned and completed schemes can be found on our transport improvements page.
