A programme of upgrades is underway to either rebuild or refurbish the six main 'bus stations' within the County.

Mansfield Bus Station

This is the busiest bus station in the County (outside of the City of Nottingham) serving over five million journeys a year. The bus station was built in 1977 and is beginning to show its age. Proposals are in place to create a new bus station in Mansfield. On 20 October 2010 the Secretary of State for Transport gave the green light to the scheme.

Retford Bus Station

This bus station serves the thriving market town of Retford. A major redevelopment scheme at Retford Bus Station has been completed. The new bus station opened on 30 July 2007.

Beeston Bus Station

The bus station is at the heart of the town and over recent years Local Transport Plan funds have been spent upgrading the site including new kerbing and an electronic timetable screen. The further redevelopment of the bus station is now tied in with the proposals to extend Nottingham's tram network through the area.

Sutton in Ashfield Bus Station

The bus station is handily placed for the town centre and the Idelwells shopping centre. An upgrade to the bus station was completed in April 2009.

Newark Bus Station

Work is now complete and the new bus station opened for business on Saturday 12 November 2011, following a preview to the public on Friday 11 November.

Worksop

Improvement works were carried out in 2002 to alter the layout of the stops on Hardy Street. Options to provide a new bus station in the town are still being progressed in discussion with Bassetlaw District Council and the bus operators.
