You can expect:

  • To be involved in the preparation of your 'support plan'. This is a record of the help you are assessed as needing. You will be given a copy of the plan in a format that suits you, for example in Braille, on audio tape or in translation
  • A review of your service within 12 weeks and once a year after that. You can ask for a review at any time if you feel your needs have changed
  • To be told the arrangements for and the cost of transport to the day service
  • To be provided with information about other services that may be available to you, including services from other organisations such as health, housing and benefits advice
  • To have car parking space, if you are a blue badge holder attending the service
  • To be provided with an environment that you can use as easily as possible (e.g. with wheelchair access)
  • To spend your time in day services free from harrassment
  • That staff will be trained and supported so that they can carry out their jobs properly. They will have written procedures and policies for the services they provide
  • To be asked for your comments on the day service, at least once a year. You will be told about any changes that are made as a result of your comments
  • To be able to take part in a consultation group.

To help staff to do their jobs well and safely, please:

  • Treat staff with courtesy and respect
  • Understand that the law requires day service to provide a safe workplace for staff. For example, staff have to follow certain rules for lifting people. We look for your co-operation.
