Residential care

Residential care is for people who cannot live at home, even with help from their family or from us. This could be because of a disability, illness, or frailty.

Care homes

Residential and Nursing Homes are now called Care Homes.

They provide personal care, meals and accommodation to people who are no longer able to look after themselves.

The future of care homes

The review of council-run care homes has been completed. After consultation, Councillors have approved a 5 year plan to modernise and re-organise care homes in the County. The press release gives full details of the proposed changes.

Adult Placement Scheme

Adult placement is for adults with a learning disability, who want to live in a homely environment but cannot manage to live on their own. It offers accommodation and support within approved family homes.
