John Bolton, Director of Strategic Finance at the Department of Health was the keynote speaker at Nottinghamshire County Council’s conference, “The Evolution of Occupation Therapy” on 12 November 2009 held at the Mansfield Civic Centre.

John talked passionately about the importance of the role of Occupational Therapists (OTs) particularly within the context of Putting People First (PPF).

He explained the key themes at the heart of Putting People First and explored what we mean by 'Early Intervention & Prevention', 'Choice and Control', 'Social Capital' and 'Universal Services - the four areas of PPF.

John also described the role OTs have and the difference that OTs can make to improving peoples life and helping people to remain as independent as possible.
