Diana Appleyard
Too beautiful to dance
An enjoyable read, with good description of the Cornish countryside. The ending does leave you wondering what the future will be. Ideal holiday read Chick Lit type.

Chick Lit
yes - but at some ungodly hour in the middle of the night - comforting. I enjoyed the book. The author is good at describing the feelings and thoughts of a woman left alone to make a new life after a marriage breakdown or widowhood. Even at a much older age I could identify. I found it finished in a rush with too many loose ends to occupy myself with. Perhaps a good idea - perhaps the start of a new novel.

Mark Haddon
A spot of bother
If you don't mind a bit of purple language and some clearly described sexual encounters this is a great, funny and well-written tale. By page 50 I wondered what it was all about, by page 100 I was really interested and by page 150 I was totally hooked. A real page-turner. A dysfunctional family drama with a difference.

The Damned Utd
Although I found this book difficult to read, it constantly moves between Derby and Leeds, I enjoyed it . Because we followed Nottingham Forest and Brian Clough during their glory years, this book was an insight into the man.

I really enjoyed this - to me it didn't matter that it was about football, it could be about any cut throat business. As a character portrait  it was excellent.

Daniel Woodrell

Her family lives in a small township where every family is related in some away to each other, her search takes her to other townships where she is not made welcome due to some feud in the past.
