This will encourage greater use of the school library by identifying the skills needed to handle information and examine strategies for teaching these skills in the school library.
Courses can be offered during the schoolday or at a staff meeting after school.
£120.00 per hour
Finding out!
Practical sessions to help pupils develop information skills in the school library. Each session is tailored to your school’s needs and is usually done with half a class of children, as 20 – 30 minutes slots.

Promoting reading for pleasure
This focuses on the enjoyment of books as well suggesting texts that will stimulate the pupils’ imagination and promote reading for pleasure. Strategies for running a successful Reading Group can also be explored.

Self-evaluation
Using the DCFS self evaluation document, “Improve Your Library”, as a starting point this examines strategies for evaluating your school library and helps you draw up an action plan. Of particular value for OFSTED inspections.
