What's new?
Virtual tour of Bestwood Winding House (new window)
The Winding Engine House, an imposing piece of industrial archaeology, is a monument to the coal mining industry once so important to Nottinghamshire.
The building has recently been restored by Nottinghamshire County Council, with funding support from The Heritage Lottery Fund website: www.hlf.org.uk and The Greater Nottingham Partnership. It opened to the public on Saturday 31 July. Opening times are every Saturday between 10am and 1pm, between Easter and the end of October.

Getting around the park
The Park entrances are all equipped with kissing gates which can be fully opened with a RADAR key to allow wheelchair and mobility scooter access.
Toilets at the Park's Bestwood Lodge Drive Car Park and the Woodland Toilet Block (near Alexandra Lodge) have fully accessible toilets for RADAR key holders.
Parking near Alexandra Lodge on Park Road, at the heart of the Park, is possible for blue badge holders between 9am and 5pm. Arrangements should be made with the Rangers Office.
Due to the hilly nature of the site, the advice is that people with particular needs contact the Rangers' Office if they wish to discuss accessibility.
A park for the community
School, faith and community groups are welcome at Bestwood, and the park’s mission is to make the countryside accessible to all. Our ranger team work regularly with all kinds of groups, ranging from autistic adults and people with mental health problems to disadvantaged teenagers at risk of exclusion from school.
Ring the park rangers to find out more about our programme of health walks, team building activities, school age environmental education and more. We also welcome volunteers, who can take part in a variety of conservation tasks alongside our park rangers. Give us a call if you'd like to find out more tel: 0115 9273674.
