New work by Eddie and Margaret Curtis
Eddie Curtis set himself a challenge: to create new works on a scale outside of his normal working practice. He has made larger hand-built and wheel thrown works in both stoneware and porcelain which can be admired in this exhibition.
Joining Eddie’s work in the gallery are Margaret Curtis’ unique collection of pots, many of which will pay homage to the ceremony of tea.
Alongside these new works Eddie is showing a small collection of stoneware vessels which were fired for him by five world class international wood firing potters. Made by Eddie, the works are bisque fired and internally glazed. These pieces have been sent to Japan, France, Belgium and Germany, to be committed to the Anagama kilns of potter friends with whom Eddie has forged relationships over many years. Shozo Michikawa, Pascal Geoffroy, Rizu Takehashi, Linda de Nil, and Uwe Lollman have all generously agreed to help Eddie fulfil his project, celebrating the unique camaraderie and internationalism of potters.
