Please read the following guidelines carefully.
1. Submissions will be made under the title 'A Day In The Life Of...'.
2. Any day may be chosen for the diary within the competition period (8 February 2010 - 31 March 2010). The date of the diary must be given.
3. Entries must be true and not created from fictitious ideas, content or relationships.
4. There must be no swear words or inappropriate images in the entry or in the supplementary material.
5. Submissions must be made under one of the four categories. Find out more about the categories.
6. Formats can be as follows:
- Handwritten or typescript text
- Category A (age 7 - 10): minimum length of 500 words and maximum length of 1000 words
- Category B (age 11 - 13): minimum length of 500 words and maximum length of 1000 words
- Category C (age 14 - 16): minimum length of 500 words and maximum length of 1000 words
- Category D (group award): minimum length of 1000 words and maximum length of 2000 words
- Audio (cassette, WAV or MP3)
- A minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes
- Video (cassette, MPEG2)
- A minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes
- Supplementary information: leaflets, drawings and photographs can be included. These can be manual or electronic (JPG, TIFF). Please list all your supplementary information on p 3 of the entry form. In the event of images of people, copyright forms, giving the signed permission of everyone in the image with their names and addresses, must be completed and attached. See point 8 below.
7. Each entry must include an entry form. This must be completed in full and signed. The form, once signed, gives permission for extracts from any submission to be used in publicity/media/journal articles by Nottinghamshire Archives or associated partners.
8. Where images of people are included, the copyright section of the entry form must be completed (p 3). In addition, a separate copyright form must be completed by each person who appears on each picture or contributes to other formats. Where the person whose image is featured is aged 18 or under, their parent or guardian must also complete and sign the form (p 2)
9. Entrants must live in Nottinghamshire or Nottingham, or attend a school or youth club in the county or city.
10. The final submission date for all entries is 16 April 2010.

No submission will be returned to their sender so please keep a copy of any items for yourself if you wish.
The competition will be judged by a panel comprising representatives of the project partners and a number of independent panel members. An awards event will be scheduled. Further information on project partners is available here.
A selection of submissions will be deposited at Nottinghamshire Archives, which holds archives for the whole of Nottinghamshire and the city of Nottingham dating back to the twelfth century.
