Aim: To run a competition for children and young people in schools, youth organisations or by individual submission that offers an opportunity to record their feelings, thoughts and opinions about their lives in 2010

Project objectives:

  • To place young people at the centre of a project that will place their own lives at its heart
  • To encourage young people to value their own lives and their place in local communities and related activities
  • To provide an archive that gives an insight into the lives of young people in the early part of the 21st century
  • To engage young people with Nottinghamshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and the Nottinghamshire Local History Association.

Project funding: Administrative costs included in project co-ordination by Nottinghamshire Archives. Prizes (£3,000) funded by Nottinghamshire Local History Association.

Project management:

  • Project lead: Nottinghamshire Archives
  • Project partners: Nottinghamshire Local History Association, Nottingham City Council Study Support Team (Children's Services) and Nottinghamshire Libraries.

Award winners and presentations: the competition will be judged by a panel comprising representatives of the project partners and a number of independent panel members.

Award categories: submissions must be made according to one of the four categories. Information on these categories is available here.

Submission guidelines: these are available here.

Heritage of tomorrow: a selection of submissions will be deposited at Nottinghamshire Archives. The submissions for 'A Day In The Life Of...' will form an invaluable addition to the archival heritage of Nottinghamshire, providing insights into the lives of young people in the early 21st century.
