Write it! Blog it! Make it count!

A competition for young people aged 7 - 16Photo of Archives display panel on diaries

Nottinghamshire Archives wants to hear from you about what life is like for children and young people today. This competition will find the best diary writers, filmmakers, bloggers or podcasters in the county and city. Fantastic cash prizes of up to £300 for individual prize-winning entries and £750 for the prize-winning school, group or club must be won.

The prizes are funded by the Nottinghamshire Local History Association.

How do you enter?

To enter, you should submit a written, typed, recorded or blogged diary on the theme of My Life! The diary should be based on a single day in your life between 8 February 2010 and 31 March 2010. The day could:

  • Coincide with a special event, such as a concert, sporting activity or meeting
  • Be a family event or situation
  • Include a school or youth activity
  • Be a normal day in your life on your local street or home.

You could:

  • Reflect on your local community
  • Include your thoughts on regional or local themes.

It could be a really serious diary, or very humorous - it's up to you! But it must be true, and not made up.

Think if you want to include copies of phone texts or other media (audio or electronic). You might want to include drawings, illustrations or photographs in your diary. Think about your feelings, thoughts and any opinions you might have that you may reflect on in your diary.
