Changing school

Moving House

If you move house within Nottinghamshire and you wish your child to stay at their current school, they may do so although you may be eligible for help with any transport costs.

If you move house during the school year and you want to change your child's school, please contact your local area base for information and an application form.

Please note that moving into the catchment area of a school will not guarantee your child a place at that school.

Transferring School

If you are thinking about changing your child's school you should first speak to your child's head teacher. If, after a discussion with the head teacher, you feel that a transfer is the best option, the head teacher will give you a transfer form to complete. This should be completed and returned to the head teacher who will send it to the area education base.

If you are resident outside Nottinghamshire and wish to apply for a school place maintained by Nottinghamshire County Council please contact the local area base for information and an application form.

Places are approved by the local education officer for community and controlled schools and the governing body for academy, voluntary aided and foundation schools.

If your request is refused the local education officer, or governing body of an academy, voluntary aided or foundation school, will write and tell you why and give you information about how to appeal.
