You may be aware that we were trialling a cashless payment system in some of our schools. These trials proved really successful and so we have now teamed up sQuid to roll out and install cashless catering systems in our schools.
What is a cashless catering system?
A cashless catering system means that instead of paying in cash for any meals and snacks at the school canteen, your child will use a biometric identification system to pay for their transactions. So, when they get to the till all they’ll do is press their thumb on a small reader which will identify them and bring their details up on the till. The cook will then enter the purchase as normal, but instead of handing over any cash, the sum will be deducted from your online account.
How to set up an online account
If your child’s school is going cashless you will receive an introduction letter from the school. This will inform you of the process and also detail your unique 16 digit sQuid registration and security codes.
All you need to do is log on to www.squidcard.com/ncc to register. You will be asked to enter a few details to set up your account, along with your registration and security codes.
Once your account is set up you can start benefiting from all it’s features such as:
- making paying simpler – just top up your balance, by bank transfer, credit or debit card
- managing your account – view your balance and edit any log in details or preferences
- check spending - you can see exactly where your money goes by checking individual payments and purchases
