A variety of training course are organised from St Michael's Centre.
First Aid
Nottinghamshire and Nottingham City Children's Services 'Off-site Visits Policy' states that:
- at least one person, trained to an appropriate level of first aid based on the risk assessment, should acompany each group
- a six to eight hour course by an HSE approved organisation is recommended as a minimum training for leaders of off-site visits. First aid qualifications are only valid for three years; refresher traiing should be arranged before the certificate expires
- where activities take place in remote areas, a higher standard of training may be appropriate.
Countryside Leader Award
This training course covers the basics of navigation,campcraft, group management and dealing with emergency situations.
Introduction to St Michael's Centre
This course is for teachers who are leading visits to St Michael's or teachers who may want to book in the future and are interested to find out what the centre has to offer.
Orienteering
We offer a variety of orienteering courses, something to suit all abilities from the complete beginner to people wanting to gain a professional qualification.
