For some parents the summer holidays can be nightmare, having to find things to do to keep their children entertained over the long school holidays. However help is on hand from the Nottinghamshire Families Information Service (FIS).

Parents and carers can search Nottinghamshire Families Services new Services Directory for things to do and places to go to this school summer holiday to keep boredom at bay!

The Family Services Directory went live last month and contains lots of useful information about services in Nottinghamshire for children, young people and their families, including a section called ‘Things to do’

Whether you are looking for a play day, local library events, sports activities at your local leisure centre or stay and play sessions, the directory can provide a list of activities and events taking place across the county.

Or if you are looking for childcare over the summer holidays, the directory can provide details about registered childminders or holiday clubs from a database of Ofsted registered childcare.

If you can’t find what you are looking for or would like more detailed advice about childcare or family support services, speak to one of the Nottinghamshire FIS’s trained Information Officers who can point you in the right direction.

Visit the directory at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/fis or ring the Nottinghamshire FIS on tel: 0800 781 2168 . If calling from a mobile tel: 01623 520 694.

Nottinghamshire FIS is open Monday to Friday 8.30am until 5.30pm, and Friday 8.30am until 4.30pm. An answer phone service is available at all other times.
