Languages and You Talks
This year, Routes into Languages at NTU is again running another round of the successful ‘Languages and You’ talks, aimed at students considering their options. The talks have been running for the last four years and are aimed at promoting to students all the reasons why opting for a language is a great idea and not just good for those who want to teach or translate.
Karen Illsley draws on her own experience as an international sales manager and uses a power point presentation with interactive content to show the students all the opportunities and careers that are open to them by continuing to learn a language.
Feedback from teachers has been that it has extra impact having someone come to talk to the students who is not a teacher and that the talk has had a positive effect on uptake numbers for GCSE and A’ Level. The talk lasts approximately ½ hour and is free of charge.
