The Play Service provides, supports, develops and sustains a diverse range of quality play opportunities to meet the needs of children and young people in Nottinghamshire and protect their right to play (core age range 5-14) For more informaiton email playrequest@nottscc.gov.uk

The Play Development Team develops and provides positive play opportunities in schools and communities.  It develops and supports community playschemes and Play Forums as well as direct play provision of play days and local play projects.  It provides early intervention and prevention for vulnerable children as well as working with a whole school approach to positive play.  Training is provided in therapeutic play, buddy training, midday training, play ideas and environmental play.

The Childcare Development Team develops and sustains out of school hours childcare in and around Primary Schools, develops quality in out of school provision, promotes inclusive play and responds to the diverse childcare needs of communities. The team has developed  ‘Safe Place to Be’ projects in Secondary Schools, childcare in Special Schools, and ‘Play to Care’ projects in areas where childcare supply is limited.

The Play Training Team provides qualification training in Playwork (levels 1 – 3) and develops and runs courses to meet a range of workforce development needs for play, childcare and the wider children’s workforce such as Therapeutic Play, Adventurous Play, Participation, Inclusion, Safeguarding, Behaviour Management and Family Learning.

The Play for Disabled Children Team provides Saturday Clubs and Holiday Clubs for disabled children and coordinates the Breaks in Partnership project.  It is developing a supply bank of workers to support disabled children and young people in 1:1 or group settings as part of its Reach Out Project.  This can include bespoke play activity packages.  The team also provides residential short breaks and Family Fun Days.
