Safeguarding Improvement Programme
This letter from the Children and Families Minister, Tim Loughton [PDF], praises the Council and its partners on the success in continuing to improve our Safeguarding services following the lifting of the Improvement Notice in November 2011. On receiving this letter, Councillor Kay Cutts, Leader of the Council, says “the letter is highly complimentary of the huge effort that has been made by officers in improving the services to Nottinghamshire’s children. I should like to offer my sincere congratulations to all staff. I know how difficult it has been for everyone involved and I am delighted on your achievements”.

provides an update on progress made through the Safeguarding Improvement Programme, following the Department for Education (DfE) review meeting on 15 April 2011.
Following an Ofsted Inspection of Safeguarding and Looked After Children’s services Nottinghamshire County Council was issued with an Improvement Notice [PDF 837KB].
This Notice includes details of the targets we must reach to improve the situation and better protect children.
In response we have developed a Safeguarding Improvement Programme which impacts on the work of Children and Young people’s Services and all of our partner agencies who work together to safeguard children.
The Safeguarding Improvement Plan [PDF 140KB]
gives details of the governance and structure of the Programme. It also explains the actions we will take to address the issues raised in the Improvement Notice.
The Safeguarding Improvement Board meets monthly and monitors the progress of the Plan. A summary is published of each meeting of the Board.

, was sent to Nottinghamshire Children's Trust Board and Executive in October 2010. It provides an update on progress made since the issuing of the Improvement Notice and outlines steps to ensure further improvement.
The Nottinghamshire Pathway to Provision along with the Common Assessment Framework and Joint Access Team Handbooks were approved on 24 August 2010 by the Improvement Safeguarding Board on behalf of the Children's Trust Board and the Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board.
