We monitor how we are doing using a variety of performance measures and progress milestones. These are listed below against the main priorities to which they relate, though some relate to more than one priority.

Implement Nottinghamshire's Early Intervention and Prevention Strategy

  • The number of children requiring statutory child protection interventions
  • The number of contacts made to children's social care
  • The percentage of referrals to children's social care going on to initial assessment
  • First time entrants to the Youth Justice System
  • Breast-feeding prevalence rates at 6-8 weeks
  • Percentage of Reception age children who have a healthy weight
  • Percentage of overall absence in primary, secondary and special schools

Sustain and build on improvements made in safeguarding

  • Initial assessments for children's social care carried out within timescales
  • Core assessments for children's social care carried out within timescales
  • Percentage of re-referrals to children's social care
  • Children who are subject to a child protection plan for two years or more
  • Children becoming the subject of a child protection plan on more than one occasion
  • Self-assessment of the quality of our care based on audits of partnership practice

Improve the effectiveness of services for disabled children

  • A milestone monitoring approach will be adopted to track progress

Implement the Child Poverty Strategy

  • Percentage of dependent children who live in households whose income is below 60% of the national average

Reduce the achievement gap at all key stages

  • Early years foundation stage assessment
  • Achievement of 5+ A*-C grades at GCSE or equivalent, including English and maths
  • Achievement gap between pupils eligible for free school meals and their peers at Key Stage 4

Raise achievement at 16-19 and equip young people to enter the workplace

  • Participation in education and work-based learning in Years 12-14
  • Percentage of Years 12-14 not in education, employment or training
  • Percentage of young people who have attained a full Level 3 qualification by 19

Improve children and young poeple's emotional wellbeing
