Worried about the safety of a child - NSCB
If you are worried about the safety of a child you must contact:
- Children and Young People's Department local office
- Emergency duty team on tel: 0300 456 4546
- Local police (in an emergency dial 999)
- NSPCC helpline on tel: 0808 800 5000
When contacting Children's Social Care (previously Social Services) please ask for the duty social worker for children.
If you are not sure whether a child is being abused you can discuss the circumstances with the Children and Young People's Department or someone else who works with children, such as a teacher, health visitor or the NSPCC. All professionals who work with children have a responsibility to safeguard them and will know how to help.
