National Parents' Week
National Parents' Week runs between Monday 18 and Sunday 24 October. It is an annual event to celebrate parents and parenting.

Notes;
- MOST EVENTS ARE FREE, but some venues may charge for refreshments.
- some events have attendance restrictions (e.g. age of child or living within a Children's Centre location) so please check event details carefully
- not all events wanted to be advertised online, so check local venues (e.g. libraries, Children's Centres and schools) and press for further events
Feature Event
Saturday 23 October
- 10am-4pm, Manor Farm Animal Sanctuary (East Leake) - first 300 get free entry to the farm (contact Sue on 07748920919 to get your tickets), play and craft sessions as well as den building
Ashfield
Tuesday 19 October
- 1.15pm-3.15pm, Jeffries Primary School - parent pampering (provided by hair & beauty students from Ashfield School), story time with Kirkby Library and follow-up art activity. Intergenerational tea dance for grandparents, parents and children (refreshments provided by year 5/6 pupils)
Wednesday 20 October
- 8.15am-8.35am, Westwood Infant and Nursery School - "food on the go", colouring competition and prize draw, in the playground but under cover. Only open to families with children at Westwood Infant and Nursery School
- 10.45am-11.45am, Selston Library - Rhyme, Rattle and Roll, come along and sing rhymes, old and new, with your babies and toddlers
- 3.15pm-3.30pm, Westwood Infant and Nursery School - "food on the go", colouring competition and prize draw, in the playground but under cover. Only open to families with children at Westwood Infant and Nursery School
- 4.30pm-5.30pm, Skegby Library - Call my Bluff family quiz. Open to everyone, just turn up on the day
- 4.30pm-8.30pm, Kirkby College - family craft sessions, mask making competition and halloween disco
Thursday 21 October
- 8.00am-5.00pm, Youth Wing of Selston Arts and Community College(SACC) - all day marketplace event with family tree activity. Open to all families with children at SACC or in year 5/6 of feeder primary schools.
- 2pm-4pm, John Davies Primary School - marketplace of activities to find out about extended services, including childcare, leisure, culture, local government, jobs, transport, education, etc
Friday 22 October
- 4pm-5pm, Huthwaite Library - Call my Bluff family quiz. Open to everyone, just turn up on the day

Monday 18 October
- 9-11am, Misterton Young People's Centre - bumps and babes session including "knowing your family" arts and crafts. For families with children aged 0-5
- 2pm-4pm, School of St Mary and St Martin, Blyth - marketplace event with focus on healthy lifestyles
Tuesday 19 October
- 9-11am, Clarborough Primary School - family fun session including "knowing your family" arts and crafts. For families with children aged 0-5
- 9.30am-12noon, Carr Hill Primary - open morning with activities
- 3.30pm-6.30pm, Portland School - local organisation marketplace event with exhibition of children's artwork
Wednesday 20 October
- 9-11am, Gringley-on-the-Hill Village Hall - playgroup session including "knowing your family" arts and crafts. For families with children aged 0-5
Thursday 21 October
- 9am-11.30am, Serlby Park (Primary phase) - information marketplace with activities in classrooms, fire safety and traditional playground games
Friday 22 October
- 9-11am, Everton Village Hall - cheeky monkey playgroup session including "knowing your family" arts and crafts. For families with children aged 0-5
Saturday 23 October
- 3-4pm, Harworth & Bircotes Town Hall - magic and puppet/ventriloquism session with the theme "Knowing Families; How well do you know yours?" - £2 per family
Gedling
Saturday 16 October
- 10am-2pm, Richard Herrod Leisure Centre - fun session with art activities to celebrate launch of National Parents' Week. Open to all families of children with disabilities and special needs
Thursday 21 October
- 1pm-3pm, Killisick Community Centre - artist lead portrait workshop for families with children aged 0-5. please call Amanda on 0115 916 5010 to book

- 9.15am-11.15am, Titchfield/Oakham Children's Centre - adult learning, dolls houses and family puppets
- 9.45am-11.15am, Holly Primary School - stay and play "all about my family", making paper plate faces and hand/footprint memories. Only for families with children aged 0-5 in the Forest Town area.

- 9.15am-11.15am, Ravensdale Children's Centre - family portrait workshop, work with a professional artist to create your own family portrait. Only for families with children aged 0-5 in the Ravensdale area.
- 10am-11.30am, Titchfield/Oakham Children's Centre - breast friends, baking gingerbread families
- 1pm-2.45pm, Titchfield/Oakham Children's Centre - adult learning, paper plate faces

Saturday 23 October
- 10am-1pm, Ladybrook Children's Centre - diversity day, open to all families with at least one child aged under 5 (older siblings welcome)
- 11am-2pm, Manor School - various family activities including reflexology, henna art, nail art, street dance, puppet making and Tales of the Heartwood story-telling. Open to all families, including grandparents
Newark & Sherwood
Thursday 21 October
- 9.30-11.30am, Bridge Children's Centre - stay and play session including family portrait workshop with professional artist. For families with children aged 0-5
Thursday 28 October-Sunday 31 October
- 11am-4pm, Rufford Abbey Country Park - linking National Parents' Week and The Big Draw to transform the abbey lawn into a sea of family faces. Artists will be helping families to decorate a piece of bunting or a sail with a family portrait, to be displayed on the abbey lawn. (A number of the above mentioned events will have an artist attending so that more portraits will be made for the display)
