The role of the Ethnicity Culture and Achievement service is:

  • To challenge inequality
  • To ensure whole school commitment to inclusion for minority ethnic pupils
  • To provide training, guidance and advice
  • To embed good practice to ensure curriculum access for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) pupils.

This may be achieved by direct pupil support, embedding good practice, advising and training mainstream teachers and liaison with other services.

The ECAS service also supports the LA to fulfil its statutory duties under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000.
