Construction waste
Nottinghamshire’s household waste recycling centres (HWRC) are provided for local residents to recycle and dispose of household waste only.
Rubble, DIY, soil, building and demolition wastes are not household waste and we are not obliged to accept this type of waste, or provide you with free disposal for it. Skips are provided at the HWRC to recycle small amounts of this waste delivered in the boot of a car, this allows you to dispose of small amounts of this waste generated in your home and helps to avoid some fly-tipping. We don't however accept this type of waste delivered in a van, trailer or tipping vehicle.
For larger loads of this kind of waste, requiring the use of a van or trailer or tipping vehicle, you should make your own arrangements for the disposal of the waste, by hiring a skip or taking the waste to a private transfer station and paying for the disposal. If you have a large amount of this type of waste, you can:
- Look in your local telephone directory or Yellow Pages under ‘waste disposal'
- Contact a private company that offer waste disposal services at a licenced transfer station. They will have a site to which you can take the waste yourself.
- Hire a skip but be sure to shop around for prices and suitable sizes of skips
- Purchase a skip bag from selected DIY stores, builders merchants, garden centres and hire centres. The bags cost around £36 and when full you call 0845 0737474 to arrange for them to be collected. Visit www.skipbag.co.uk for more information.
