Buildings records

We maintain the Historic Buildings Record (HBR), which is a database of listed and special interest buildings in the county.

Buildings at Risk

The Buildings at Risk Survey for the county monitors the conditions of historic buildings and targets action towards those in poor repair.

Planning consultations

We provide specialist advice to District and Borough Councils to assist in the consideration of development affecting listed buildings, conservation areas, registered parks and gardens and other sensitive environments. This forms part of our commitment to improve towns and villages.

Advice

If you need design and technical advice for the maintenance and care of historic buildings and artifacts, contact us and we'll help you. We also advise on the legal aspects of listed buildings and conservation areas.

We also provide information and advice on the sustainable approaches to development by reusing historic buildings. For more information please visit our sustainable development page or contact us.

Research and projects

We initiate heritage research and encourage regeneration through initiatives, grant schemes, external funding and partnerships. By these means we're involved in projects that contribute to economic development, employment opportunities, training/education, social inclusion, tourism and the well-being of the historic environment.
