Going along to a green event is a great way of getting inspired and finding out how you can make a difference. It's also a good chance to find out about what's happening in your local community - from allotments and veg box schemes to conservation projects and cycle campaign groups. Many of the events are free. Popular green events include:

Farmers markets and country markets

At farmers markets you can buy locally-produced food and drink direct from the farmers, growers or producers. Country markets, orginally set up by Women's Institute members, also sell fresh, local, home-produced food.

Details of farmers and country markets in Nottinghamshire are contained on the Food Initiatives Group website.
