Make a real difference – join an EcoTeam

What is an eco-team?

  • An effective way to reduce your community’s impact on the environment and save money on household bills
  • A group of 6-8 people, led by a volunteer facilitator, who meet monthly for 5 meetings to share ideas and work together to learn simple, effective changes leading to a more environmentally friendly lifestyle
  • A great opportunity to meet people in your local area. Anyone can be in an EcoTeam; neighbours, friends or community groups and it doesn’t matter if they’re already  ‘green’ or not.

What's it all about?

An EcoTeam is a group of 6-8 local people who meet to discover simple, effective changes for a more environmentally friendly lifestyle and is a great way to meet new people in your local area.

Everyone in the community is welcome - It doesn’t matter if they’re already green or not! EcoTeams are easy, supportive and free to residents to in Broxtowe, Rushcliffe, Gedling and Nottingham City!

EcoTeam meetings are informal and very friendly. It takes just five monthly meetings to take the EcoTeam from start to finish. We look at shopping ethically, saving resources, saving energy and travelling wisely and even have a celebration meeting! Every participant receives information filled with useful tips, web-links and information.

With simple monitoring, households also generate their own ‘before’ and ‘after’ results showing the effect of their more sustainable lifestyle.

Volunteer with EcoTeams –  train to become an EcoTeam facilitator

Global Action Plan is offering free training, equipping you to help other people take small steps to a more sustainable lifestyle.

What's it all about?

It only takes 1 day to train as a volunteer EcoTeam facilitator. We’ll take you through the programme – how to recruit a team, the support materials, tips for a successful Team and so on - so that you can take that knowledge back to your own group and guide the other households through the process. Of course, we’re always available if you need extra support.

What’s required?

As an EcoTeam Facilitator, you don’t need to be an expert - you just need to be interested in taking simple actions on shopping ethically, saving resources, saving energy and travelling wisely.

A Facilitator simply helps to recruit a team, organise and run the meetings (up to 2 hours each) that take the EcoTeam from start to finish. Your team could be made up of people from your street, or from groups you’re involved with – church, sports club, etc -It’s up to you!

We run training days every 2-3 months, so if you’re interested please get in touch.  You could help your community go green!
