Changes to the Definitive
Map and Statement

On the 8 of October 2008 The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed, with modifications, a Modification Order to add two public bridleways to the Definitive Map and Statement for Cotgrave and Holme Pierrepont.  The Bridleways are as follows:

Holme Pierrepont bridleway 14:  From Bassingfield Lane to the south side of the Grantham Canal

Cotgrave bridleway 23:  From Bakers Hollow along the existing line of Cotgrave footpath 21 (Woodgate Lane) to the canal towpath and then across the canal and heading in a north-westerly direction to and across the Poulser Brook.

The Planning Inspector did not confirm the section of the bridleway in the original Modification Order that was largely in Tollerton, between the Poulser Brook at the end of Cotgrave bridleway 23, and the canal towpath at the end of Holme Pierrepont Bridleway 14.

Copies of the Modification Order can be viewed at Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Radcliffe-on-Trent Public Library and Cotgrave Public Library.

Currently the only part of the Order route that is open and available for use is the section that was originally Cotgrave footpath 21 from Bakers Hollow along Woodgate Lane and across fields to the canal towpath.  Nottinghamshire County Council will be working with landowners to open up the northern sections of bridleway.
