The Nottinghamshire Economic Development Partnership (NEDP) Board are members of public, private and third sector organisations whose aim is to develop economic strategy, determine priorities for investment and delivery, oversee performance and represent Nottinghamshire County economic interests using Single Programme funding allocated from emda.

All projects invited to submit an application are reviewed for value for money and strategic fit to NEDP’s Sub-regional investment plan (SRIP) and emda’s Regional Economic Strategy - www.emda.org.uk/res - before any monies are committed and a funding agreement is issued.

Projects that have successfully completed this process and been awarded Single Programme funding in 2010/11are:

Access Alliance

The Access Alliance Programme (AAP) aims to support and develop sustainable transport solutions throughout North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire. These will link residents with jobs, training and other services.The schemes are aimed at young people and those without access to a private car.

Sustainable Transport Advice and Research (STAR)
Chesterfield Canal – Shireoaks Sustrans Link

The project is to restore and create a 2.2km off-highway multi-user route utilising the Chesterfield Canal Towpath between two key access points at Shireoaks Station and the Lock Keeper Public House in the Bassetlaw district of north Nottinghamshire. Visitors to the Chesterfield Canal, Worksop and users of Sustrans National Route 6  will benefit from the improved accessibility of the off highway cycling/pedestrian network – whether as part of routes to work or in their leisure activities.

Nottinghamshire County Council Single Programme monies are being used in conjunction with European Regional Development Fund monies to deliver this project.

Creative Industries Sector Support

Single Programme monies for a co-ordinator to provide support to the Creative Industries sector. Examples of this support: are:

  • Providing networking opportunities and engagement with creative businesses.
  • Promoting ideas for creative businesses on certain key issues at events.

A proactive forum for key strategic agencies, employers and communities in Nottinghamshire to improve co-ordination of funds, plans and commissioning maximising impact of employment and skills investment.

Partnership of Private, Public and Voluntary sector members
Family Employment Initiative

The Family Employment Initiative is a partnership project, working with families and individuals. The team can provide ‘one to one’ support and help the unemployed find suitable training and employment.  They offer a completely free, confidential, no obligation service. Working together they can develop a realistic personal plan that will assist people in getting a job.

Ingenuity Programme

A project jointly funded by a partnership of Sub-regional Single Programme offices from Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The programme is delivered by the 3 universities in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. The Universities are raising awareness with local businesses that by working with them it is possible to improve the businesses performance.

Investment Project

A small team tasked with ensuring that large UK companies and Foreign Direct Investment Companies get the greatest possible benefit from their decision to locate in north Nottinghamshire / north Derbyshire.

Making the Connection 2006 Making the Connection (MtC) is a recruitment and skills solution service that works with employers and communities across Nottinghamshire. It links the local workforce to businesses as well as managing training, events and recruitment activities to make sure that local people benefit from employment opportunities. Sherwood Coalfields Access Network (SCAN) Lower Linear Route

A project leading to the creation of a Multi User Route (MUR) across central Nottinghamshire, linking Rainworth (in the east) to Teversal / Pleasley (in the west). This will be part of a longer network of routes that together, will eventually link with other proposed routes into the Newark area and with links back to Lincoln (via the National Cycle Network Route 64), linking Lincoln City to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire, via Mansfield and Sutton in Ashfield.

Nottinghamshire County Council Single Programme monies are being used in conjunction with European Regional Development Fund monies to deliver this project.

Sherwood Growth Zone Project Co-ordinator

Single Programme monies have been used towards the administration costs of a project officer whose role is to support infrastructure development within the designated Sherwood Growth Zone area along the Mansfield & Ashfield Regeneration Route (MARR).
