Ward and Parish estimates

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) set up a research project in 2000 to investigate the production of post-censal population estimates for geographical areas smaller than local authorities. As a result of this, data has been released as experimental statistics. These are statistics undergoing evaluation.

Using these experimental statistics together with local information collected by the Health Authority extracted from patient registers, it has been possible to produce population estimates for wards and parishes. All these figures are controlled to the revised population estimates produced for counties and districts in August 2007, reflecting improved data for international migration. Please note that the figures are not controlled to the latest (May 2010) revised figures.

District wards

Ward level population estimates are produced for Census Area Statistics (CAS) wards, which are based on administrative ward boundaries legally in force at the end of 2002. These ward boundaries became operative in Nottinghamshire in May 2003.

Parts of Nottinghamshire have experienced various boundary changes from 2006 onwards. These, as well as the 2003 ward boundary figures, are provided for comparison where relevant.

Maps are available for wards and parishes, with updated versions where boundary changes have taken place.
